Seminar "Quantum spin liquid candidate Ca10Cr7O28 – A spinon description" by Mr. Jonas Sonnenschein

Date

Tuesday, February 18, 2020 - 15:00 to 16:00

Location

Lab3 Level A / A720

Description

Speaker : Mr. Jonas Sonnenschein from Freie University of Berlin.

[Abstract]

Quantum spin liquids are phases of matter that do not develop any magnetic order at low temperatures. The usual description of magnetism based on a mean-field theory of the spin operators is therefore bound to fail. In this talk an alternative approach using a fermionic representation is presented. This formalism is then applied in order to explain the experimental data of the quantum spin liquid candidate  Ca10Cr7O28.
