Date: Thursday 7th March

Time: 10:00am-11:00am

Venue: Meeting Room A613, Level A, Lab 2

Speaker: Professor Philippe Sindzingre, Condensed matter theory laboratory, University Pierre and Marie Curie (UPMC) Paris, France

Title: “Investigation of the T=0 phase diagram of some 2D quantum antiferromagnets by means of exact diagonalization of the Hamiltonian”

Abstract:

In past years, exact diagonalization approaches, have been quite effective in showing that quantum fluctuations can destabilize classical orders (leading to exotic  type of orders)  in low dimensional antiferromagnets with competing interactions.

I shall illustrate how one can infer the nature of the ground state from the spectrum obtained by exact diagonalization on the example of the spin-1/2  J1-J2-J3 model on the square lattice which display a rich phase diagram.

We hope to see many of you at the venue !
