Description

Prof. Paul Wiegmann from University of Chicago

[Abstract]:
Quantized Hall conductance in quantum Hall effect is well understood and measured with an unmatched precision. Is the electric transport the only precise transport? Apparently not. I will discuss the geometric transport recently came into the focus of research. The geometric transport is also precise. It is the transport of charge and angular momentum under mechanical change of the geometry of electronic fluid. Quantization of the geometric transport is based on  a subtle phenomena of the gravitational anomaly recently revealed in QHE.
