Luís Seabra received a PhD in Physics from the University of Bristol in 2011, under the supervision of Prof. Nic Shannon, followed by a research career in the field. Since 2016 he has been pursuing a career in Data Science and Machine Learning in industry.

[Abstract]
In this talk I will provide a personal point-of-view over aspects of modern applied Machine Learning and Computer Vision. I will overview key concepts, applications and motivations, followed by a discussion of key models and architectures. This talk will be contextualized with my path from Condensed Matter Physics till this point.
