Sounds of the Ryukyus 2024

Experience the enchanting world of traditional Ryukyuan performing arts at OIST! 

Co-hosted with the Traditional Music Association of the Nomura School of Ryukyuan Classical Music, the event, titled "Sounds of the Ryukyus," marks its 7th edition this year. Unfortunately, due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the event couldn't take place, making this year's performance a revival after approximately four years.

Join us for an immersive journey into the cultural heritage of the Ryukyu Islands, featuring captivating performances such as Ryukyuan Dance and Kumiodori—a unique blend of words, music, and dance. These traditional arts, passed down since the Ryukyu Kingdom era, promise to mesmerize and delight. Don't miss the chance to savor these cultural gems that continue to capture hearts and minds.
