Internal Communications

Internal Communications works closely with OIST executive leadership as well as with units and groups across campus to deliver important information to the appropriate audience efficiently and effectively.

Please email for assistance with TIDA content, internal email requests, and the promotion of OIST-wide events and projects. Developments are also underway to benchmark and improve current internal communications channels and to provide the framework for new channels and strategies as needed.

A well-crafted message is a work of art—especially within an incredibly international environment like OIST. Virginia Houk cemented this opinion while living in Eastern Canada and completing a BA and an MA in English literature, rhetoric, and prose in tandem with identity and culture studies. In 2015 she came OIST. After working in a variety of roles at OIST and getting to know the community, her work in the Communication and Public Relations Division now focuses on delivering thoughtful and effective OIST-wide messaging. She also provides OIST staff with the tools and strategies necessary to best support the communication needs of their internal-facing projects.
