Description

In this talk, I will give an overview of the asymptotic symmetries of asymptotically flat space times. These are a class of solutions of the Einstein equations with zero cosmological constant. Surprisingly they have an infinite dimensional symmetry group, that leads to an infinite number of conserved charges. These symmetries are related to an important observational effect, called gravitational memory. Furthermore, they constrain any scattering matrix involving gravitons. After reviewing these important concepts, I will give an overview of a recent advancement in the understanding of these charges in higher dimensions.
