Conformal structures in cosmology

Conformal techniques are very useful in gravitational physics to simplify the description of certain spacetime properties. For example, they can be used to 'pull in' infinitely distant regions to finite places or vice versa.
We investigated conformal classifications of cosmological models and developed a conformal framework for anisotropic cosmological futures which are compatible with Penrose’s Weyl Curvature Hypothesis. This framework effectively ‘conformally regularizes’ the physical spacetime by relating it to an unphysical spacetime via a conformal factor which absorbs most of the singular behavior.
