OIST Lean Startup Entrepreneurial Training Program

March 18-26, 2016

DISCOVER THE LEAN LAUNCHPAD METHODOLOGY

Learn how to identify commercial opportunities that can emerge from academic research by working on a real technology development case. In this program, participants will use, as case studies, technologies developed at OIST and will apply skills learned in the course to identify potential customers of the technology.

Instructors are part of the U.S. National Science Foundation I-CorpsTM Program's (http://www.nsf.gov/news/special_reports/i-corps/about.jsp) regional training node at George Washington University.* (The I-Corps Program is a U.S. national effort to provide mentors and funding to university researchers to develop technologies that benefit society.)

Program Schedule

  1. March 18-20: 3-day Opening Session

Discover the Lean Startup method through activities that introduce the Business Model Canvas and Customer Development Process.

  1. March 21-25: Interview Period and Online Session

"Get out of the building" by conducting interviews with potential customers to understand product-market fit.

  1. March 26: Closing Session

Present and pitch your customer development findings.
