OIST will broadcast public lectures by JAXA Professor Seiichi Sakamoto on OIST Open Campus Day, March 3, 2013, Sunday.
Only the original Japanese audio will be streamed, but simultaneous interpretation will be provided at the venue.

Lectures

Two lectures are planned for the morning and afternoon:

Time: 10:30-11:20

  • Speaker: Professor Seiichi Sakamoto, JAXA/ISAS
  • Title: Challenge to Space
  • Abstract: Humans have always looked into Space and aspired to explore it. Professor Sakamoto introduces some of the wonderful collaborative efforts conducted by researchers working on exploring our Solar System and the research being done aboard the International Space Station.

  • Speaker: Professor Seiichi Sakamoto, JAXA/ISAS
  • Title: Discover the Earth from Space
  • Abstract: Traveling abroad gives you insight and understanding about your home country. Likewise, Earth-observing satellites, astronomical observation satellites and Solar System explorers can tell us how wonderful our Mother Planet is. Discover Earth again by looking deeply into the latest results of these satellites.
