Quantum distance and flat band

Abstract

Geometric aspects of Bloch wave functions have been proved to be essential in understanding material properties since the discovery of the topological insulator. However, while the topological structures of the Bloch wave function have been studied exhaustively, other geometric notions such as the quantum distance and quantum metric have gotten less attention. In this talk, I’m going to show that quantum distance plays a crucial role in understanding localization physics, Landau level structures, and interface properties of flat band systems.
