Title: N=1 vs. N=50,000 – The power of modern day genomics for personalized medicine
Abstract: With the advent and widespread adoption of so-called next generation sequencing (NGS) approaches we are witnessing the rapid adoption of genomics in clinical medicine. Dr. Huentelman’s laboratory has participated in numerous research and clinical studies leveraging genomic sequencing to better improve treatment of or to diagnose disease. In this lecture he will provide an overview of the field and utilize specific examples from his research (including the first ever identified genes associated with Aicardi Syndrome and Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy) to illustrate the current state of affairs regarding NGS and where the future may take us.
