Basic Life Support Training (Non-Certification) Registration for March
Detail of Education Session: BLS Basic (non-certification)
This class will introduce new students to Basic Life Support and will serve as a refresher for those already certified in BLS. The class will teach basic first aid, including the use of CPR and AED. We will also learn basic bandaging, identifying and dealing with heat related illness or injury, and how to call for emergency assistance in Japan. Students will be taught rescue priorities, and in small groups will complete a communications exercise involving an emergency scenario.

このクラスは新入生の皆様にBLSを紹介し、既にBLSの認定を受けている方には復習としてご参加頂けます。このクラスでは、CPRとAEDの使い方を含む基本的な応急処置の方法を学びます。また、基本的な包帯の巻き方や熱中症に関連した病気や怪我の特定方法と対処方法、及び日本での緊急援助の呼び方について等も学習します。生徒は救助の優先順位を学び、小グループに分かれて緊急事態を想定したコミュニケーション演習を行います。
About the Instructor Jason MacDonald
Jason MacDonald grew up in Nova Scotia, Canada, a stone's throw from the shores of the Bras D'or where he spent over 100 days each year exploring the frigid Canadian Atlantic as a child. As a teenager he swam for the Cape Breton Dorados competing in relay and backstroke, and since leaving school has lived and surfed on four continents over the past 25 years.
In 2014 Jason settled in Okinawa and has spent the majority of his days here exploring the ocean environment. He is a PADI certified Public Safety Diver, UCI Divers Underwater Criminal Investigator, AIDA certified free diver, ISLF Surf Lifesaver, PWC Rescue Operator with the Japan Water Patrol, and is currently employed as Ocean Safety Program Manager for the United States Marine Corps at Camp Butler, Okinawa.
In 2020 Jason started the Okinawa Ocean Safety campaign in response to a spike in drownings during the Covid pandemic, collaborating with top water safety experts to develop the Ocean Safety for Okinawan Waters curriculum.
講師紹介：ジェイソン・マクドナルドさん
ジェイソン・マクドナルドさんは、カナダのノバスコシア州のブラスドール海岸付近で育ち、幼少期には毎年100日以上、極寒のカナダ大西洋を探検していました。10代の時には、ケープブレトンドラドスでリレーと背泳ぎを経験し、学校を卒業して以降の25年間は4大陸で生活し、サーフィンを楽しんでいました。
2014年に沖縄に移住したジェイソンさんは、日々の大半を海洋環境の探求に費やしています。PADI認定パブリックセーフティダイバー、UCIダイバーズ水中犯罪捜査官、AIDA認定フリーダイバー、ISLFサーフライフセーバー、日本水上警察PWC救助オペレーター等の資格を持っており、現在は沖縄のキャンプバトラーでアメリカ海兵隊の海洋安全プログラムマネージャーとして勤務しています。
2020年のコロナウイルス感染拡大の中で、ジェイソンさんは水難事故の急増に対応する為に、沖縄の海の安全運動を開始した。水上安全の優秀な専門家の方々と協力して、「沖縄の海のための海洋安全」カリキュラムを開講しました。
