SAP Library

Welcome to the SAP Library!

"A good library will never be too neat, or too dusty, because somebody will always be in it, taking books off the shelves and staying up late reading them."
– Lemony Snicket

When you walk into the SAP library, you will likely see children curled up on beanbags, reading books. You will see children sitting at the table, doing homework, drawing together, and reading together.

They will be reading in English, in Japanese, or in one of the many other languages they feel comfortable with.

The SAP library has over 2,000 titles in more than six languages, and it is constantly growing. We currently have books in Japanese, English, French, German, Mandarin, Russian, Hebrew and Spanish. We are happy to accept donations of age-appropriate children's books in any language.

FAQ

Who can use SAP library?
Any child in the SAP room can read books inside the library. OIST families are also welcome to stop by and borrow books (please contact the SAP Director for more information on this).

How long can I borrow a book for?
Books can be borrowed for one week.

I can't find the book I want, what should I do?
Ask a teacher to help you. If all the teachers are busy, write down the name of the book you want and give it to a teacher. If we don't have it, we'll put it on a list to order it.

Why can't I borrow some books?
Some books are labeled as "Reference Only". Those books cannot be removed from the library because they are educational books purchased with OIST subsidy funds.
