Postdoc - vdW Heterostructures

Position Description: The Femtosecond Spectroscopy Unit (https://groups.oist.jp/fsu) at the recently established Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, Graduate University is seeking to recruit world-class postdoctoral researchers in the field of nonlinear and ultrafast processes in 2D van der Waals heterostructures.

Operational unit facilities include state-of-the-art laboratories with multiple amplified, ultrafast lasers;  a Low Energy Electron Microscope (LEEM/PEEM), a Time of Flight Momentum Microscope (METIS TOF), and a cryofree 17T superconducting magnet for nonlinear optical measurements. First-rate shared institute facilities for material characterization & nano-fabrication are also available.

Strong opportunities for collaboration and interaction exist with international institutes including Stanford, Rice University, Ecole Normale Superieure, and Cambridge; as well as to attend and present at reputed international conferences. Candidates are expected to have a PhD in the area of experimental condensed matter physics, or related field, with a particular emphasis on the study and characterization of van der Waals heterostructures. Experimental expertise in ultrafast spectroscopy and/or LEEM/PEEM is required.

We will try our best to accommodate personal considerations. Base annual salary will be ¥4.4M plus housing allowance upto ¥60k/mo. Final compensation package will take into consideration candidates’ experience and background, and will be competitive with international standards.
