Speaker: Dr Alexander Ling, PI, Centre for Quantum Technologies, National University of Singapore

Talk title: Entanglement engineering for space-based quantum networks

Abstract: Experiments utilising entanglement distribution via satellites is becoming practicable - it has been demonstrated from the Micius spacecraft, and in the next decade, we will witness more missions, including the use of constellations and other novel configurations such as satellite-to-satellite communications or transmission from deep-space. One development we expect is that nano-satellites will become more widely utilised as the size, weight and power limitations are overcome. I will discuss how my team is working to overcome these limitations, and review recent progress in the development of small and rugged entangled photon sources. I will then discuss our plans for space-based quantum networks.
