Accelerating Biomedical Science Innovation, featuring Dr. Tanja Rosenmund

The OIST Innovators Society is hosting a fireside chat with Dr. Tanja Rosenmund, Visiting Researcher at OIST and Director of SPARK Berlin Institute of Health at Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, an innovation program that supports academic inventors with education, mentorship, and funding to accelerate the translation of their technology into medical products.

The SPARK concept was created at Stanford University in 2006 and has since expanded to more than 60 universities globally.

Tanja will discuss her experience in helping academics overcome obstcles in moving their discoveries from bench to bedside and will provide tips on how to network and get access to the advice you need to successfully advance your project into the clinic. 

The event will be followed by an Open House with staff of the Technology Development & Innovation Center with free coffee and snacks!

About Tanja Rosenmund

Tanja Rosenmund studied Biology at the University Heidelberg. She performed her PhD on "the role of Rab 5 in synaptic vesicle recycling" in the department of Prof. Herbert Jäckle in the laboratory of Dr. Marcos Gonzalez-Gaitan at the Max-Planck-Institute for Biophysical Chemistry and the Max-Planck-Institute for Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden. She received her PhD from the University Kassel in 2002. After a postdoc in the laboratory of Prof Stefan Hell on high resolution imaging in exocytosis, she moved to Houston Texas. There, she continued her scientific work on synaptic vesicle exocytosis in the laboratory of Prof. Hugo Bellen. After moving to Berlin 2009 she worked as lab manager and postdoc in the laboratory of Prof. Christian Rosenmund with a strong focus on neurophysiology. She obtained an executive MBA in 2021 from the European School of Science and Technology (ESMT). Since 2015 Tanja Rosenmund is program coordinator of SPARK-Berlin.
