Verification Policy and Procedures

The Registrar Section in the OIST Graduate University must obtain the verification of completion or enrollment of degree program(s) directly from your university, aside from the certificate of enrollment that you have already uploaded to the application website. We request for all applicant's cooperation as part of our efforts to address recent issues related to Diploma/Degree mills. Any additional costs to obtain the verification will be covered by the applicant. Those who apply for admission into the OIST PhD program should submit proof of their educational background BEFORE any further arrangements are made.

We need to confirm the verification of the application’s educational background by one of the following ways:

1. OIST to receive directly from the applicant’s home university, via an official university email address, the documents to prove in English that you are/were enrolled and will graduate/graduated with what type of degree in the university/institution.

2. OIST to receive the sealed documents to prove in English that you are/were enrolled and will graduate/graduated with what type of degree in the university/institution by air mail in an unopened/sealed envelope to the following address:

Note: The applicant is responsible to request the verification from either the University they are currently enrolled in or the latest University they graduated from.

Whichever option you choose, if the document is not provided in English, please have the original document translated to English and provide the full name of the translator. If English translation cannot be provided, we also have an OIST form of verification available. Please download the form for your university to fill out and send directly to us.

In addition, the applicant needs to submit the contact information of the relevant office/section in his/her home university for further verification of their educational background if needed.

We need to ensure that all applicants will have/have valid degree(s) before they admission into the OIST PhD program. Please keep in mind that all necessary arrangements will be arranged for applicants ONLY IF the completion or enrollment of the applicant’s degree program(s) is verified.
