OIST seminar "How to Successd in Crowdfunding" by Ryosuke Shibato, CEO and founder of academist, Inc, Japan’s first academic crowdfunding company.

Summary:

Crowdfunding – small-scale donations by individuals aimed at supporting various activities – is growing in popularity every day thanks to social media such as Twitter and Facebook. Academic projects are no exception, and more and more researchers are considering the possibility of using grassroots funding to te st their new ideas. 

In this seminar, Ryosuke Shibato will talk about his pe rsonal experiences and the dos and don’ ts of crowdfunding, and how to successfully present an appealing research project to the general public.

The seminar will be in English. 

About the Speaker:

Ryosuke Shibato is the CEO and founder of academist, Inc. He studied nuclear theory and many-body quantum theory at the Graduate School of Tokyo Metropolitan University and completed the program in March 2013. academist, Inc., Japan’s first academic crowdfunding company, is dedicated to establishing an environment, where STEM can flourish, by helping researchers and academic activities in gathering funds, human resources, and information.
