Abstract:

Introduction to COMSOL by COMSOL Japan

This session is a general introduction to the COMSOL Multiphysics® software, a general-purpose simulation software used in all fields of engineering, manufacturing, and scientific research. We start from introducing the modelling philosophy, capabilities, and COMSOL Desktop®. Then, we move on to a detailed overview of the modeling workflow. We will walk you through the essential steps needed in all analyses, such as geometry creation, mesh generation, model setup, postprocessing and visualization. We will also mention some of the most useful functions and tools available in COMSOL Multiphysics®. Finally, to show the use of the modeling workflow, we will demonstrate how to set up and solve a model, and postprocess the results in the COMSOL Multiphysics® software. During this session, you will develop the basic foundation for your future multiphysics modeling work.

Advanced Topic in AC/DC (Motor Simulation)

This session is a topical session that explains how to use the Rotating Machinery, Magnetic interface in the AC/DC Module, which is an add-on product of COMSOL Multiphysics® through a permanent magnet motor example. This session includes:

  • AC/DC Module overview
  • Introduction to Rotating Machinery Magnetic Interface
  • Geometry finalization
  • Motion definition
  • Magnetic Material models
  • Live demo of a permanent magnet motor

Advanced Topics in Wave Optics (Waveguide Simulation)

In this session, we present various highly advanced application examples and modelling methods by using the Frequency Domain and the Beam Envelopes interfaces in the Wave Optics Module in particular. The applications include:

  • Laser beam
  • Laser cavity
  • Optical lens
  • Waveguide
  • Plasmonics
