Wellbeing Matters: Sleep

Professor Jason Ellis, Director of Sleep Studies at Northumbria University will give a presentation entitled:

Sleep Health: An opportunity for Action

"Sleep problems are widely described as the global epidemic of the 21st Century, with the increasing demands of the 24/7 lifestyle usually resulting in sacrificed sleep. The aim of this talk is to introduce the audience to the science of sleep by exploring why we need to sleep and what happens to our brain and body when we sleep. Further, the talk will examine the consequences, in terms of physical and psychological wellbeing, of not getting enough good-quality sleep and how we can determine our own sleep needs for optimal health. The talk will conclude with an overview of a few simple techniques, individuals can use at home, in order to maximise their own sleep health."

This will be an hour-long presentation with opportunity for questions, afterwards at 1pm in B250.
