Title:
Large Collaborations in Science
Can OIST learn from their experience?
Abstract:
Can a single researcher discover the Higgs boson or “see” a black hole? A theoretician, yes, an experimentalist, no. This simple statement has led for decades to the formation of large teams of scientists tackling jointly common goals. In the time of big data it became increasingly clear that also other fields of science can learn from the experience in particle physics and astronomy.
In my talk I will report about my personal experience as well as best practice and lessons learned when building teams, organize their work, intellectual ownership, and individual visibility.
