Comparative biology of parental behaviour in birds

Abstract:
Parental behavior is a prominent feature of avian biology. However, species differ profoundly in the intensity of care and the share of parenting duties between the sexes. I will talk about major correlates of incubation behavior in passerines (Passeriformes) and of the share of parental duties between the sexes. I will also talk about sexual dichromatism (difference in color between the sexes) and its putative drivers in passerines, contrasting natural and sexual selection.
