QG group meeting: tunneling and complex trajectories
Date
Monday, October 2, 2017 - 15:00 to 16:30
Location
A618, Lab 2
Description
This is the weekly QG group meeting.
Speaker: Jake Barnett (visiting Ph.D. student in QG group).
Title: The correspondence between tunneling and complex classical trajectories.
Quantum tunneling is not quantum. Rather, a tunneling process can be described by a (complex) classical trajectory. We discuss the derivation of this correspondence, as well as showing off some new results. In particular, we discuss how this method contains the Euclidean Instanton as a special case, and how to select the appropriate complex trajectory from an infinitude of saddle points to the path integral.
