Speaker’s Profile

Dr. Otsuga is currently the Vice President of Colorado State University Ventures, Inc., an independent non-profit corporation dedicated to serving the Colorado State University to manage its intellectual properties.  He has been involved in technology commercialization process from both academic institutions and a biotechnology company positions for more than a dozen years.

ABSTRACT:

Most academic institutions, including many of the most prestigious institutions established in the late 19^th and early 20^th century, have a common mission: education, research, service, and extension.  The mission comprises both of discovery and dissemination of knowledge.  As a newly established institution in 21^st century, what are the modes of knowledge transfer that OIST could be engaged in order to optimize its impact in society?   This seminar provides an overview of a new mode of knowledge transfer, technology commercialization.
