In its first nine years as a multidisciplinary, scientific research graduate university, OIST has embarked upon a variety of initiatives with ambitious goals. We strive for research excellence. We seek ways to bring the benefits of world-class science to our local community in Okinawa. We promote these islands not as a tourist destination but as a scientific and entrepreneurial hub for the world. We are attracting innovative technology and talented inventors from across the globe to this unique part of Japan. Ultimately, we are becoming an integral part of both local and global society through our dedication to science and innovation.
