OIST Donor Recognition

OIST is grateful to all donors – individual, corporation, and foundation – for providing philanthropic support to the university. We honor your generosity by creating various forms of acknowledgment and invitation for you to stay informed and connected with OIST community and leadership.

Donors with significant contribution are honored with a specially designed name plaque affixed on the stone wall at the main entrance of OIST.

Donors may choose to name a campus space, a research project, or a donor-funded program.

OIST has been certified as a public interest organization eligible for participating in the Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon award program by the Cabinet Office, effective on August 30, 2021.
Based on this certification, the Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon may be awarded to individuals or organizations who donate private funds (5 million yen or more by an individual, 10 million yen or more by a corporation) to OIST in service of public interest. The university will apply to the Cabinet Office for awarding the Medal to each qualified donor upon confirming the donor's philanthropic intent.
For more information about the Medal of Honor system, please refer to "Types of Medals" on the Cabinet Office website

Invitation to Special Campus Tours and Events

Donors are welcome to contact us for information about special campus tours, lab tours, and university events. Invitation will be sent to the donors whose giving and interests match the topics of specific tours or events.
