OIST Donor Recognition

OIST is grateful to all donors – individual, corporation, and foundation – for providing philanthropic support to the university. We honor your generosity by creating various forms of acknowledgment and invitation for you to stay informed and connected with OIST community and leadership.

Donor Plaque

Donors with significant contribution are honored with a specially designed name plaque affixed on the stone wall at the main entrance of OIST.

Donors may choose to name a campus space, a research project, or a donor-funded program.

OIST has been certified as a public interest organization eligible for participating in the Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon award program by the Cabinet Office, effective on August 30, 2021.
Based on this certification, the Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon may be awarded to individuals or organizations who donate private funds (5 million yen or more by an individual, 10 million yen or more by a corporation) to OIST in service of public interest. The university will apply to the Cabinet Office for awarding the Medal to each qualified donor upon confirming the donor's philanthropic intent.

Invitation to Special Campus Tours and Events

Donors are welcome to contact us for information about special campus tours, lab tours, and university events. Invitation will be sent to the donors whose giving and interests match the topics of specific tours or events.

President’s Circle

The OIST President’s Circle is a society of leadership donors comprised of individuals who invest in OIST’s future through significant philanthropic gifts to help transform OIST’s vision into reality. Members share a passion for OIST’s mission to conduct research that bridges disciplines to explore new frontiers of scientific knowledge, educate a new generation of scientific leaders, and become a catalyst for innovation in Okinawa. Members will have regular, exclusive discussions with OIST President and leadership.
