Building a solid foundation

Give today. Support science for a better future.

President’s Fund

The President’s Fund is made up of unrestricted donations that allow OIST to be flexible and immediately responsive in meeting changing needs as they arise. The fund will be used in support of OIST’s overall development and strategic areas as determined by the President.

OIST Research Fund

OIST Research Fund is the vehicle to bring philanthropic support to strategic research projects as determined by the university’s research management. From quantum sciences, to environmental science and climate change, to health and wellbeing, donations to this fund will support our scientists’ world-leading research to create benefits for all humanity.

Talent Retention and Attraction

OIST is only as strong as its human capital and retaining and attracting world class talent is essential to its success. While funding from the Japanese government enables OIST to offer competitive salaries, global competition for top talent necessitates that additional capital be available to attract and retain world-class leaders for the benefit of the institution, Japan, and the world. To accomplish this, OIST, in cooperation with the OIST Foundation, is establishing a Talent Retention & Attraction Program (Talent Program), that will provide flexible financial resources for use in recruiting and retaining top caliber individuals at OIST.

Donations at all levels are greatly appreciated. Donors contributing one million yen or more annually for five years will be invited to join the OIST Associates – Leadership Circle, a special group of individuals who invest substantially in the future of OIST.

U.S. donors may make a tax-deductible contribution through the OIST Foundation.

I enthusiastically support the concept and mission [of OIST]. I believe OIST can lead Japanese science to a better place, in terms of global recognition, but realize that much work remains to be done and that Japanese government funding, while generous, is limited in amount and restricted in application. Private philanthropy has a crucial role to play in OIST's future. If not us, who?
