OIST Computational Neuroscience Course (OCNC 2025)

Date

Monday, June 23, 2025 (All day) to Thursday, July 10, 2025 (All day)

Location

OIST Seaside House

Description

The aim of the OIST Computational Neuroscience Course is to provide opportunities for young researchers with theoretical backgrounds to learn up-to-date neurobiological findings and those with experimental backgrounds to have hands-on experience in computational modeling. Lately the latter category has dominated applications and comprises the majority the students, including many students who want to model or analyze their own data. The faculty are leading researchers in their fields.

In addition to lectures there is also an important hands-on component: students work on a modeling or data analysis project under guidance of a tutor. Compared to other similar courses around the world, we focus on student proposed projects instead of having them work on predefined topics.
Extra in 2025 will be the DeepLabCut Workshop, we expect this will attract many attendees (separate from the OCNC students) because it is an extremely popular software.
