"Quantum integrated technologies"Jason Twamley, Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia

Tuesday, July 9, 2019 - 15:00 to 16:00

Seminar Room C210, Level C, Center Building

Prof. Jason Twamley
Professor of Quantum Information Science, Department of Physics and Astronomy
Macquarie University Research Centre in Quantum Science and Technology
ARC Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems (EQuS)

Today’s machines bring together a wide range of different technologies to operate effectively. Such an integration is now normal and expected. Mobile phones contain gryos, magnetometers, accelerometers etc. In this brief review I will discuss Hybrid quantum systems where one brings together different types of quantum systems to achieve new funcationalities not possible with an individual system alone. We will discuss optical-microwave interfaces, ultra-strong coupled systems, spin squeezing, magnetometry and our recent work on demonstrating Unruh radiation in the lab.

Looking forward to seeing many of you at the sminar!
