Abstract:
The theory of a weakly degenerate Bose gas at nonzero temperatures is known to be hard. I will explain our approximate method of handling finite temperature effects known as a classical field approximation, which is an approximation that is an extension of a well known Bogolyubov approximation and is analogous to the Maxwell theory of electromagnetic fields. Then I will review several applications of the method to solitons, Rydberg excitations and to the problem of quantum measurement of BEC.

Looking forward to seeing many of you.
