Title: Expansions of the Black Hole Solution in AdS(3)
Speaker: Nico Fischer, Research Intern, Quantum Gravity Unit (Neiman)
Abstract: In 1992, Maximo Bañados, Claudio Teitelboim and Jorge Zanelli surprised by discovering a black hole solution in 3-dimensional gravity in presence of a negative cosmological constant, i.e. in AdS(3) spacetime. Today referred to as the BTZ black hole, this geometry shows many similarities to its 4-dimensional cousin, the Kerr-solution, but because of the high symmetry of AdS(3), a description outside the standard formulation of general relativity is possible. Instead, a group theoretical approach realised in the Chern-Simons formalism that utilizes algebra valued gauge fields can be used.
Almost 10 years after the BTZ black hole’s discovery, Teresia Månsson and Bo Sundborg generalised the BTZ solution to geometries with multiple singularities, a multi-black hole sector, which will be object of this talk.
