4月のSAPルーム April in the SAP Room
新学期に慣れてきました Settling in to the New Year
SAPの新しい子も戻ってきた子も、新学期に慣れてきました。 幼稚園生はSAPに来て一緒に昼食をとり、その後、工作やゲームをしながら先生と交流したり、一緒に自由遊びをしています。新しい子どもたちが、元からいる子どもたちと絆を深めているのを見るのは喜ばしいことです。彼らの社会的、感情的スキルの成長もよく見て取れます。
次に、いつものアフタースクールの子どもたちが到着し、クラブや野外活動が始まるまでの1時間を、宿題や静かな活動をして過ごします。 スタッフと子どもたちは、SAPを安全で受容的な環境にするよう努めています。クラブには、アート(月)、テニス(火)、ハンドボール(水)、サイエンス(金)がありますので、さまざまなクラブ活動に参加するようお子さんに勧めてください。
SAP children, new and returning, have been settling into the new school year. Kindergarteners come to SAP and have lunch together, then spend time interacting with teachers with crafts or games, or engaging in free play together. It is nice to see the incoming kids create a bond with our current children. The growth in their social and emotional skills is also evident.
Regular after school kids arrive next and spend their first hour doing homework or quiet activities before clubs and outdoor activities begin. Staff and kids have been working together to create a safe and inclusive environment. Please encourage your chid to particitipate in various club activities such as Art (Mondays), Tennis (Tuesdays), Handball (Wednesdays) and Science (Fridays).
保護者の皆さん、ありがとう Thank You, Parents
SAPは、お子さんの学校の予定変更についてお知らせしてしてくれた保護者の方々に感謝します。 おかげで、突然の予定変更があった際に子どもたちの送迎バスの調整が間に合いました。恩納小学校は、保護者の方がSAPにこのような変更の連絡をするよう期待しています。保護者の方は、今後ともご連絡をよろしくお願いします。 そして、いつも柔軟に対応してくれるBFM送迎チームにもお礼を申し上げます。 機会があれば、皆さんからもありがとうと伝えてくださいね！
The SAP would like to thank parents for keeping us informed of changes in your child's school schedule. Because of your efforts we have been able to schedule buses to pick children up on time when schools make sudden changes. Onna Elementary School expects the parents to contact SAP about such changes. We really appreciate your continued communication with us! We would also like to extend our gratitude to BFM's transportation team. They have been flexible and accommodating every step of the way. Please say thanks to them when you get the chance!
4月の活動とクラブ April Activities and Clubs
ゴムブレスレット：子どもたちは、ゴムバンドコレクションを使って、ブレスレットやネックレスの様々なデザインを作る方法を学びました。
ジグソーパズル：アフタースクールの子どもたちにとても人気のある活動になっています。
外遊び：新しい遊び場は、子どもたちが涼しい春の午後に遊ぶのに人気の場所です。
アートクラブ/鬼滅の刃キャラクター折り紙：これまで8種類のキャラクターを作りました。全種類108体の作成に挑戦しています！
子どもたちへ：クラブに参加したい時や、自分でクラブを作りたい時はスタッフに教えてね！
Rubber band bracelets: children have learned how to make various designs of rubber band bracelets and necklaces using our rainbow band collection.
Jigsaw puzzles: this has become a very popular activity for after school children.
Outside play: our new play area is a popular place for kids to play on these cool spring evenings.
Art Club / Demon Slayer character origami: We have made 8 types of Kimetsu characters so far. We are trying to create 108 characters in total!

マスクは本当に効果があるか？ Do Masks Really Work?
クリス・ペトコフ先生のシュリーレンイメージングシステムを使った実演で、子どもたちは、マスクを着けていない時、口や鼻から体液が流れ出るのを見ることができました。マスクを着けている時は、使い捨てマスクでも繰り返し使えるマスクでも、液体の流れが妨げられるのが見えました。マスクが口だけを覆っている時も、マスクから液体が漏れました。また、クリス先生は有名なコーンスターチ粉じん爆発を披露し、子どもたちを魅了しました。
Dr Chris Petoukhoff used Schlieren Imaging setup to demonstrate that with no mask, students were able to see fluid from their mouths and noses. When wearing masks, either single use or reusable, students observed fluid flow being blocked. When the mask only covered students’ mouths, fluid still escaped from the mask. He also hooked the students with the classic corn starch explosion demonstration.
ウォーターマジック Water Magic:
ヤーシャ・ネイマン先生は、水分子の性質と構造を説明しました。ウォーターマジックを披露した子どもたちは、表面張力と圧力の概念を学びました。水分子の棒球モデルも作りました。
Dr.Yasha Neiman explained the properties and structure of a water molecule. The children performed some water magic tricks to learn the concepts of surface tension and pressure. They also made ball and stick models of a water molecule.
移動する色水 Walking Rainbow:
子どもたちは、水の特性についての予備知識を活かし、水が毛細管現象でどのように移動するかを学びました。 赤、青、黄色の溶液のみを使って7色の虹を作り、毛細管現象で水がティッシュペーパーを通るのを観察し、移動する色水を作りました。水分子の球棒モデルも作成しました。 レイ先生はウマ先生の実験を手伝いました。
Children activated their prior knowledge about the properties of water to learn how water moves through capillary action. They created seven colors of the rainbow using only red, blue and yellow solutions to see water travel through tissue paper using capillary action creating a walking rainbow. They made a ball and stick model of the water molecule as well. Rei-sensei assisted Uma-sensei in conducting the experiment.
地球温暖化とCO2ガス Global Warming and CO2 Gas:
子どもたちは、水が入っている試験管に制酸剤タブレットを加えてCO2ガスを作り出しました。 風船にガスを集め、円周を測りました。 ナターシャ先生とレイ先生は、ウマ先生の実験を手伝いました。 子どもたちはデータを見て、どの実験が最も多くCO2を作ったかを判断しました。 そして二酸化炭素の球棒モデルを作り、結合および炭素と酸素の元素について学びました。私たちは地球温暖化と二酸化炭素の影響について話し合いました。
Children created CO2 gas by adding an antacid tablet to a test tube of water. They collected the gas in a balloon and measured the circumference of the balloon. Natasha-sensei and Rei-sensei assisted Uma-sensei with the experiment. Children used the data to determine which experiment created the maximum amount of CO2. They also made ball and stick models of CO2 and learned about bonds and the elements Carbon and Oxygen. We had a discussion about global warming and how CO2 affects it.

科学に対する子どもたちの好奇心を刺激するためにお時間を割いてくださったヤーシャ・ネイマンさんに感謝します。

Enrollment available for May, June, and July Holiday Program Days
5月、6月、7月のホリデープログラムの登録が開始しました。お子さんの学校が休みの日にホリデープログラムサービスに参加されるご家族は、ホリデープログラムのウェブフォームをご利用できます。 ホリデープログラムの日に昼食とおやつを注文される場合は、前月20日の午後5時までに必ずご登録をお願いします。
Registration for Holiday Program days in May, June, and July is open. The holiday program webform is available for families who wish to partake in holiday program services during their children's school holidays. Remember to sign up before 5PM on the 20th of the preceding month if you want to order lunch and snack on holiday program days.
SAP図書室 SAP Library
今月、SAP図書室は子どもたちに人気の場所でした。OISTの保護者の方が、子どもや青少年向けのいろいろな言語の本をたくさん寄付してくれたおかげで、図書室は常に成長しています。SAPに本を寄付してくださった皆様、ありがとうございます。
SAPの新しい子どもたちは、図書館カードをもらってとても喜び、自分で貸出の手続きをやりたがりました。これからも、子どもたちみんなが読書と図書室を楽しんでほしいと思います。
子どもたちへ：図書室で注文してほしい本があったら、スタッフに知らせてください!
The SAP library has been a popular place to hang out this month. Our library is always growing due to OIST parents' generous donations of children's and young adult books in many languages. Thank you to everyone who has donated books to the SAP.
New SAP children were very excited to receive their library cards. They were eager to check out books to read on their own. We hope everyone will continue reading and enjoying the library.
Kids: if there are books you want us to order for the library, please let a staff member know!
COVID-19対策 COVID-19 Measures Continue
SAPはCOVID-19保護対策を引き続き実施しています。部屋は一日に何度も消毒され、子ども達の定期的な手洗いやマスクの適切な着用を促しています。SAPスタッフ全員は隔週でOISTのPCR検査を受けています。保護者の方は、SAPルーム内では常にマスクを着用してください。マスクを着用していない場合は、外での待機をお願いします。ご協力よろしくお願いします。
SAP COVID-19 protection measures remain in place. The room is disinfected multiple times a day, and children are reminded regularly to wash their hands and wear their masks properly. All SAP staff are receiving bi-weekly OIST PCR tests. We continue to ask parents and guardians to wear masks inside the SAP room at all times. Anyone without a mask must remain outside. We appreciate your cooperation.

屋内や屋外の遊び場で活動しているSAPの子ども達の写真は、4月の写真アルバムをご覧ください。今後の写真やビデオのための空き容量を確保するため、過去のアルバムは定期的に削除していますので、残しておきたいお子さんの写真は保存していただくようお願いします。
For more photos of SAP kids doing activities in the room and in the outdoor play areas, please check out the April photo album. Be sure to save photos of your child that you want to keep because we delete older albums regularly to free space for new photos and videos.
