“Light interaction with three-level systems:Coherent Population Trapping,
Electromagnetically Induced Transparency and Stimulated Raman Adiabatic Passage”
Prof. Jordi Mompart
Department of Physics, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain
Abstract:
I will review the interaction of light with three-level systems with special emphasis on the Coherent Population Trapping (CPT), Electromagnetically Induced Transparency (EIT) and Stimulated Raman Adiabatic Passage (STIRAP) techniques. The basic formulation and some applications such as lasing without inversion and subwavelength state localization will be introduced. I will also briefly discuss the extension of these techniques to atom optics. The introductory level of the lectures make them specially interesting for young researchers.
