Speaker: Yasha Neiman (Sergeant First Class)

Title: "Let us breed a Schrodinger's Cat"

Abstract:
I would like to share my excitement about two major conceptual revolutions in science: evolution by natural selection and quantum mechanics. Each of these revolutions provides a fascinating update to our notions concerning knowledge, information and probability. I will then spend some time geeking out about the larger-than-life persona of Erwin Schrodinger, who contributed decisively to both fields, and was easily the most interdisciplinary thinker since Leonardo da Vinci.
Finally, I'd like to air out a concept for a crazy experiment, with the aim of demonstrating that simple organisms can "learn" quantum-mechanical probabilities through natural selection.
