[Abstract]
In three-dimensional hydrodynamic turbulence forced at large length scales, the Kolmogorov’s energy flux is constant in the inertial range. However, in the presence of multiscale forcing and dissipation, the energy flux $\Pi(k)$ varies in the inertial range itself. For example, $\Pi(k)$ decreases with wavenumbers in quasi-static MHD turbulence, stably stratified turbulence, MHD turbulence and dynamo, and in flows with Ekman friction. But, $\Pi(k)$ increases with wavenumbers in turbulent thermal convection and unstable stratified flows. In this seminar, I will try to provide a holistic perspective on the energy flux.
