流体力学ユニット (ピナキ・チャクラボルティ)

研究概要

流体力学ユニットでは、物質の流れ方を研究しており、その対象は台風の乱流やパイプラインの中を流れるオイルに及びます。本ユニットでは、エネルギーが二次元、三次元的に拡散する様子の極めて重要なディテールを知るため、石鹸水の薄膜とパイプを通して挙動を詳細に分析しています。このような現象をモデル化することで、悪天候の動向を予測してより良い対策をとれるようになり、また石油パイプラインネットワークの管理にも役立ちます。
