Title: Security of quantum key distribution in realistic conditions

Speaker: Guillermo Currás-Lorenzo

Abstract of Talk: In the first part of this seminar, I will talk about twin-field quantum key distribution, and recent works demonstrating its security in practical conditions, such as the finite-key regime. In the second part of this seminar, I will talk about a common imperfection in practical QKD setups, correlations in the phase randomization process, and recent advances in proving the security of QKD protocols in its presence.

Profile: Guillermo earned his PhD from the University of Leeds under the supervision of Prof Mohsen Razavi, where he was awarded the prize for the best thesis in the School of Electrical Engineering in the year 2021-22. After a postdoc in Prof Marcos Curty’s group at the University of Vigo, he has joined Prof Kiyoshi Tamaki’s group at the University of Toyama as a JSPS Postdoctoral fellow. His main research interest is the security of quantum key distribution.
