Title: Haptic interfaces for navigation

Abstract: In this talk, Ad will discuss shape-changing haptic interfaces for pedestrian navigation, evaluating user behaviour with advanced prosthetic limbs and the design of novel mechatronic robotic grippers to imitate complex human-hand functions. 

Bio: Ad’s research focuses on tangible systems operating in unstructured environments, leading to such activities as collecting movement data from immersive theatre audiences and mailing self-administered experiment packs to participants across the USA. Ad has previously conducted research at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems (Germany), Yale University (USA) and Bristol Robotics Lab (UK).
