Title: Exosome Role in Brain Tissue Regeneration In Zebrafish Model of Traumatic Brain Injury
Abstract: The overall goal of the proposed project is to elucidate the molecular mechanism underlying the high regenerative capability of neural tissue in the zebrafish. The research will investigate the hypothesis that exosomes play a role in the crosstalk between immune cells and stem cells. Exosomes are nanovesicles 30-150nm in size. They contain a large variety of miRNAs. This makes them powerful candidates for intercellular communication. The proposed research is expected to lead to new knowledge about how the zebrafish is able to regulate its immune response to avoid glial scar formation and ensure survival of newborn neurons.
