Title: Swamp Smarts: Discovering Cryptic Intelligence in Crocodilians
Abstract:
Crocodiles, just as reptiles in general, have long been among the many animals considered intellectually inferior. But in the last 15 years there's been an explosion of discoveries showing that they have uniquely complex and flexible behavior. I'll talk about my work on their performing arts (songs and dances), hunting tactics, and play behavior, and explain why there is no such thing as 'boring" or "stupid" animal.
The OIST community is invited to enjoy free pizza and soft drinks and extended scientfic discussion following the seminar, from 5pm. Please join us and bring your own mug.
