Programme (2024)
*as of September 27
*Every dinner is a working dinner for networking.
We will not be providing plastic water bottles during this school. Please bring a reusable water bottle that you can fill at any tap (safe drinking water everywhere in Japan) or from a water fountain.
Additional Activities
- Join us on Wednesday 25th for an Introductory Japanese lesson where you'll learn basic greetings that you should find useful during the coming days on Okinawa. This class is offered by the Language Section of OIST and is free-of-charge for all participants.
- On Friday 27th, from 8:30pm, all participants are invited to Lab 0 in Seaside House. Lab 0 is the OIST, student-led social club and there should be some good live music that night, a fusion of Okinawan and Americana styles, with a full bar (bring yen as cash only accepted). After the live music, there'll be a jamming session for those keen to show off their musical skills.
- On Sunday 29th, we'll offer an excursion to the Motobu Peninsula region of Okinawa (at a minimal cost) to all participants. Details to follow. Please bring cash to pay for the excursion (in region of 5000 JPY).
- On Tuesday 1st, OIST will provide a professional headshot opportunity for all students (and lecturers) at the school. Time from 1pm (during lunch break); Location Floor 3 Churu Hall (dining room), Seaside House
- On Tuesday 1st, the Student Chapters of Optica and SPIE at OIST will run a quiz night with prizes! This will be in teams of 4-6 and we'd encourage all to particpate. There'll be some drinks and snacks provided.
