Description

Electron microscopy approaches applied to cell biology with a special focus on autophagy

Prof. Dr. Muriel Mari - University Medical Center Groningen – The Netherlands

Muriel Mari is an Assistant Professor specialized in electron microscopy (EM) approaches applied to solve cell biological questions. Her research primarily aims at understanding the mechanism underlying membrane rearrangements during autophagy at the ultrastructure level, exploiting the genetics advantages of yeast. Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Her lab is internationally renowned for the development and application of immuno-EM and correlative light electron microscopy (CLEM) methods for the ultrastructural study of yeast. Her seminar will focus on the presentation of the main EM approaches used in her group and their use in solving key biological questions examples.
