Description

The aim of the OIST Computational Neuroscience Course is to provide opportunities for young researchers with theoretical backgrounds to learn up-to-date neurobiological findings, and those with experiment backgrounds to have hands-on experience in computational modeling. 

In addition to lectures there is also an important hands-on component: students work on a modeling or data analysis project under guidance of a tutor. 

Course Design

A project-oriented course designed to teach computational neuroscience based on the STEPS, NEURON, Brian, NEST and Python software packages.

  • Lectures introducing basic modeling methods (week 1)
  • Lectures by world leading experts covering a wide range of computational and experimental neuroscience topics
  • Hands-on tutorials of modeling software
  • Independent modeling or data analysis projects proposed by participant
  • Individual tutoring
