Title
Physics and Mathematics of Quantum Many-Body Scars
Abstract
Quantum thermalization is assumed to occur in generic many-body systems, provided their Hamiltonians do not support infinitely many conserved quantities. Quantum Many-Body Scars (QMBS) challenge this expectation: they host atypical eigenstates that evade thermal behavior despite residing in non-integrable spectra. In this seminar, I will discuss the mechanism underlying this subtle ergodicity-breaking and connect it to experimental observations in Rydberg atom chains. Building on this mathematical structure, I will also discuss what QMBS do not imply about classical chaos, and how non-Hermitian driving can stabilize scarred dynamics.
