Academic life before OIST:

I did my Masters in Photonics from Cochin University of Science And Technology, India. I did my thesis at ENSSAT, University of Rennes 1, Lannion, France where I worked on the design and characterization of integrated photonics for the near- UV regime.

Unit at OIST:

I am in the Light-Matter Interactions for Quantum Technologies Unit (Nic Chormiac Unit).

I study photonics and its effects in the fish assemblages, because:

I have always been fascinated by light. Its extremely fun and interesting to see the effects of light at the microscopic scale not to mention its applications!

Also I really enjoy learning about the sheer diversity of fishes out there. Currently my favorite fish is the red-lipped batfish.

In Okinawa, I like to:

Cook and maybe go for a drive if the weather agrees.

I am the Culture and External Relations Representative, because:

I am interested in the rich Okinawan culture and believe that OIST community with such diverse cultural background can offer so much to the local community.

You can contact me ...

...if you have any suggestions or ideas for cultural exchanges within and outside the OIST community. I am also open to simply chatting over a cup of coffee/tea!
