Communications Officer: Juliana Silva de Deus (she/her)

Juliana Silva de Deus

(juliana.silva@oist.jp)

Academic life before OIST:

I earned a undegraduate degree in Clinical Psychology and another BSc in Psychology by the University of Brasilia, Brazil. Later, I got a MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience by the same university.

Unit at OIST:

Computational Neuroscience Unit.

I study Computational Neuroscience, because:

I learned that I enjoy more analyzing and modeling neuroscience data than collecting it. I am admired by how it is possible to extrapolate experimental finds to test hypothesis using computational models.

In Okinawa, I like:

... going for walks, swimming, paddling, snorkeling, playing D&D, cooking/baking, throwing dinner parties, dancing, crochetting, hanging on silks now and then, and watching series. It sounds cliche, but the secret for doing so many things really is to be bad in all of them.

I am the Communications Officer, because:

I want to make Student Council matters more attractive to students, by communicating it in a more fun and interesting way.

You can contact me ...

... if you have any idea on how to improve the way Student Council communicates with the Student Assembly. You can also contact me if you just need someone to talk about life in general.
