Open Symposium

Research Contributing to Health and Welfare Fostered by Ethical Conduct

8 March, 2014

1.         As the media covers many research misconduct cases such as fabricated research papers and misappropriated research funding these days, the society has been increasingly concerned about research ethics. Responding to this situation, the Japanese national government and major research funding agencies have begun to put an emphasis on raising the ethical awareness among researchers, and, for some research grants, they are now seeking a way to mandate grant applicants to complete a training session on the code of conduct for researchers.
The symposium will be a good opportunity for you to gain knowledge of the global trend of researcher ethics, e-learning training materials for code of conduct for researchers developed by a project in which OIST is involved, and a cutting-edge research project conducted by high ethical standards.
In addition, the presentation of the cutting-edge research will be arranged to be easily understood by the audiences of the general public. We would be very happy if you could bring your family members and friends and have a good time at OIST.
