Seminar: "Progresses on the lesson we learn about (quantum) gravity from quantum matter" by Mr. Riccardo Martini
Date
Monday, March 11, 2019 - 11:00 to 12:00
Location
A719, Lab 3
Description
Speaker: Mr. Martini is currently in his last year as a Ph.D. student at University of Jena, Germany.
Abstract. The interplay between geometrical and matter degrees of freedom is of fundamental importance to understand the nature of both classical and quantum gravity. I will present two studies of quantum field theory on curved spacetime and consider the implications about quantum gravity, with a particular attention to its formulation in terms of Asymptotic Safety. Both the study rely on heat kernel methods and, thus, I will also present an introduction this useful technique.
