Seminar: "Melonic CFTs" by Prof. Dario Benedetti

Date

Monday, January 20, 2020 - 10:30 to 12:00

Location

B712, Lab 3

Description

Speaker: Dr. Benedetti is a professor at Ecole Polytechnique.

Abstract. Tensor models were originally introduced as a way to sum over random geometries, i.e. as an approach to quantum gravity. More recently, their large-N limit, dominated by melonic diagrams, has found its place in quantum field theory on a fixed (flat) background as an analytic tool for the study of new fixed points of the renormalization group, i.e. new conformal field theories. I will give an overview of the main ideas and of some recent results.
